Kirkland Signature Golf Ball Review 2021

The best golf ball on the market will not always be the best for your individual game. As a golf professional, I didn’t always play with the most expensive or premium golf ball.

The proper match for your game is better than the best technology on the market. Kirkland golf balls are the type that will surprise you by the performance that they offer for the price.

If you have ever wondered if this Kirkland golf ball could be a match for your game, we will give you all the information that you need.

Features and Benefits

The Kirkland Golf Balls are considered to be value priced premium golf balls. They are made up of three pieces and have a Urethane cover.

Many golfers find the Kirkland to be a very high quality and high performing golf ball.

Feel

Since the Kirkland Golf Balls are three piece golf balls, they have quite a bit of feel from the tee and around the green as well.

Even though the Kirkland’s overall compression is considered to be a bit high, the compression of the core is rather soft. This will help to give the ball an overall soft feel when playing those short iron shots into the green.

Anytime a golf ball is made with more of an elastic type core, it will have a bit of a softer feel. Golfers with slower swing speeds may struggle with feel when it comes to the Kirkland ball.

Spin

Anytime you hit a golf ball that has slightly higher compression and three pieces, chances are you are going to get quite a bit of spin around the greens.

This is an excellent choice for golfers that need a bit more grip to get their shots to perform from 100 yards and in.

Remember that the Kirkland golf balls are also a distance ball. This means that they have a lower spin coming from the tee. The combination of low spin from the tee and medium spin around the greens is truly the ideal combination in a golf ball.

Compression

The compression of the Kirkland three-piece golf ball is about 90. A 90 compression golf ball is built more for the mid to high swing speed player. Golfers with a slower swing speed will have a difficult time compressing the ball.

If a golf ball has too high of a compression for you, it will feel hard and be difficult to get the distance you need.

For players with faster swing speeds, the higher compression helps to get the distance that you need and deserve from your shots.

Distance

The rubber core of the golf ball is a high speed mantle. It has a 338 dimple pattern that will provide a penetrating ball flight.

Golfers need to get lots of height on their golf ball to get great distance, but this penetrating flight also helps players get the extra roll when the ball lands.

Since this is a three piece golf ball, you will get the low spin from the tee and the high spin around the greens. The combination is what takes golfer’s games to the next level.

Durability

The cover on the Kirkland Signature is a urethane cover golf ball. The urethane cover will give lots of excellent durability.

You can plan on playing with this ball for a few rounds before you see a scratch or a scuff. Of course, the fact that this is a higher compression ball, Kirkland assumes some faster swinging players will be using it.

Faster swinging players have a much greater chance of cutting the golf ball with a wedge or iron shot. This is simply a power thing, but it can make purchasing golf balls quite expensive.

Luckily the durable Kirkland Signature should hold up just fine to your faster speeds.

Price

When it comes to price, the Kirkland golf balls will be quite a bit more affordable than other golf balls on the market. Since these are usually sold in bulk, the pricing is going to be quite a bit lower.

Most of the time, when you purchase Kirkland Signature golf balls, you will get about two dozen at a time.

When you compare the price for two dozen Kirland Signature to other tour level balls, you will quickly see that this will be a much better and more reasonably priced choice.

Who Makes Kirkland Golf Balls?

Kirkland Signature golf balls are made by Costco. The Kirkland brand is specific to Costco, and typically the only place that you can get the Kirkland Signature balls are at Costco.

However, there are some times that the Kirkland Signature golf ball becomes available for sale on Amazon as well.

If you know anything about Costco, you know that they like to provide quality bulk products at a lower price. This is a great way to describe what you get when you switch your golf ball over to the Kirkland Signature.

Kirkland vs. Pro V1

There are many people in the world of golf that will compare the Kirkland Signature to the Titleist Pro V1. With many considering the Titleist Pro V1 to be the best ball in golf, this says quite a bit about the Kirkland product.

Although there are quite a few similarities between these models, there are also some differences. We have tested both of these golf balls side by side, and the results were interesting.

The Kirkland Signature golf ball has lots of distance, low spin off the tee, and plenty of greenside performance. With 90 compression, it felt similar to the Titleist Pro V1 off the tee. On long iron and fairway shots, the SIgnature seems to travel with plenty of ball speed and lots of roll when we needed it.

The real difference between the Costco Kirkland Signature golf balls and the Titleist Pro V1 was noticed when we got closer to the green. Although the Kirkland Signature has excellent spin, it doesn’t have that same drop and stop technology that the Pro V1 has.

When you need a Pro V1 to stop on the green and stay, it does. We can’t say the Kirkland Signature golf ball is quite as responsive.

However, the Kirkland Signature is also not quite as expensive as the Pro V1. If you are a mid handicapper with a bit of club head speed, the Kirkland Signature is a perfect replacement to the Pro V1.

You won’t notice all that much difference between the two.

Lower handicappers will likely be able to feel when they have the Kirkland Signature in play or the Pro V1. Although the differences are small, they are still there, and they should be considered for those that expect the highest level of performance.

Conclusion

If you have been on the fence about trying out a Kirkland Signature golf ball, we highly recommend that you give it a shot.

Costco’s Kirkland Signature are premium balls with high performance, offered at a much lower price than other products on the market.

The spin rate from the tee and the green make them feel like tour balls. Short game performance, combined with the fact that Kirkland balls feel a bit like the Titleist Pro V1, make this model a choice that all mid handicappers can consider.

Remember that with the higher compression and three piece urethane technology, this Kirkland Signature Ball is best suited for the golfer with higher swing speeds.
