PXG 0211 Irons Review 2024: Worth the Investment?

PXG or Parsons Extreme Golf has had a very unique introduction to the world of golf. At first, they said they would start out as the most expensive and premium golf brand in the industry. Since then, things have changed.

In our PXG 0211 irons review, we will explain why these lower-priced PXG irons came out in 2021 and who should be playing with them. Overall, the performance of the club surprised us, as well as the clean look.

Features of the PXG 0211 Irons

The PXG 0211 irons are still designed with the custom fitting option that all PXG golf clubs have. Just because this is a lower price than the 0311 series, you can still expect to get a set of golf clubs that is custom fit to your needs. However, before you decide if the PXG 0211 is for you, here are the things to keep in mind.

Look

The look of the PXG 0211 DC is one of our favorite things about this set of golf clubs. The club has a very clean look to it, and it is a progressive set design. This means the wedges and shorter irons will have a cleaner and thinner look to them than the longer irons.

If you have seen the P790 irons from TaylorMade, the PXG 0211 irons have somewhat of a similar look. It’s not quite a classic cavity back look, more of a modern design with a very thin top edge.

Feel

When PXG first came out, they only used premium materials to have the best stability and feel in the game. However, when they switched to the PXG 0211, the feel was a concern considering some of the materials are not quite as high-end.

Overall the feel was good, the progressive offset helps to improve the overall forgiveness son the harder-to-hit clubs, and this has helped with the feel.

The one thing to watch out for here is that the forgiveness on the longer irons is not quite as good as you will find with other game improvement clubs. This means that the feel and feedback can be harsher than many players expect.

Distance

With the Dual Cor system from PXG, the irons get some pretty impressive distance. The idea here is that there is just enough weight in the club head to get that extra jump off the face. When combined with a high MOI and a low center of gravity, the results are long distances

This is probably some of the most reasonable distance in the game for the price per club. However, one thing to be aware of here is that the distance in the PXG 0211 irons is good because of its lower lofts.

When golf clubs have lower lofts, they travel further, but sometimes that means the ball flight is lower. If you struggle with low ball flight, to begin with, be careful of this iron.

Forgiveness

One question that we are often asked is, “The PXG 0211 irons are for what handicap.?” To correctly answer that, you need to look at the forgiveness of an iron. Golf irons with more forgiveness are for the mid to high handicap players.

That is precisely where the difference between the PXG 0211 DC vs. ST will come into play. The ST is more of a blade style with less forgiveness and much more control. The DC is certainly more of a forgiving club designed to help a player that struggles with dispersion.

Custom Fitting

A golfer that wants custom fitting in their golf irons will have an effortless time working with the options from the PXG 0211 irons. There are several golf shafts to choose from, including:

  • Elevate Tour
  • Elevate 95g
  • MMT 80g
  • Dart 75g
  • MMT 60g
  • MMT 50g

Golfers can find both steel or graphite shafts and availability in the 4-PW, GW.

Benefits of the PXG 0211 Irons

The PXG 0211 irons have some great features that will help it stand out from others on the market. Our favorite, of course, is the fair pricing of these golf clubs.

Very Fair Pricing

The PXG 0211 irons are some of the best-value golf clubs that PXG has put out. Remember that this company started selling irons for more than $300 per club, and now they are selling them at less than $100 per club.

Indeed, this shift in the sales process and mentality is a bit confusing, but it seems to be working for PXG. Golfers are happy to get a piece of the PXG name for a price that they can afford.

Long Distance

The Dual Cor system in the PXG 0211 DC irons certainly helps to improve overall distance. Players with older golf irons and not taking advantage of modern technology will find the PXG 0211 irons to be a major improvement.

Progressive Design

The progressive design allows the shorter irons to have a more blade-style look while the long irons look more like a full cavity back. The progressive design means that forgiveness is improved throughout the entire set, and players can easily transition from one club to another.

Good-Feel

We were impressed with the overall feel of the PXG Irons. They don’t feel as good as the 0311 series, but they are also only a fraction of the price. For a top game improvement iron with plenty of performance, the feel is good.

Cons of the PXG 0211 Irons

If you are carefully comparing the PXG 0211 irons to other irons in their category and not other irons from PXG, then there are very few cons.

Lower Launch

The PXG 0211 irons have a lower launch because they are solid in the loft. This helps you get more distance, but it could lead to a lower overall ball flight and decreased performance. If you don’t hit the ball high, be careful which shaft you put in these irons.

Lack of Workability

The PXG 0211 DC irons are not all that workable. The forgiveness that is built in takes away from the workability and makes it a bit harder to get the ball flight that you may be expecting.

Alternatives

If the PXG 0211 irons are not the best fit for your game, here are a few others that could work. These alternatives feature similar performance and unique characteristics that help them stand out.

PXG 0211 vs. Ping G425

The Ping G425 has a slightly similar shape to the PXG 0211. However, Ping has some really impressive feel and player development put into the club that is going to cost you quite a bit more money than the 0211. If you have the money in your budget, the Ping G425 will likely hold up longer and have better resale value.

PXG 0211 Irons vs. TaylorMade Sim Max

The TaylorMade SIM Max irons are now a few years old, and therefore the pricing has dropped. These irons had good distance and forgiveness but not the best feel on the market. The PXG 0211 will have a better feel, but ball speeds could be slightly higher with the SIM Max. Also, consider looking into Stealth as an alternative.

PXG 0211 Irons vs. TaylorMade P790

The TaylorMade P790 irons are a hollow cavity design with a very clean and appealing look and some of the longest distance performance on the market. In addition, the P790 is known for having a great feel. Expect this to be a bigger investment than the PXG 0211, but one that may be well worth it for some golfers.

Frequently Asked Questions

Here are a few of the most common questions that we get about the PXG 0211 irons and their performance:

Our Verdict

If you are on a budget and want a clean-looking and high-performing game improvement iron, the PXG 0211 could be a great choice. This club has an impressive feel for the price, and our favorite part is the progressive design that helps you have the feel needed in the short irons. The PXG 0211 line allows you to transition nicely into hybrids for those that need a combo set. Overall the clubs are worth the money, as long as you are being realistic about what you are getting. The club does not feature the same feel or performance as the 0311 series, but this is for an entirely different budget.
